Gallery Visit: The Prism Postcard Project

A few weeks ago, I dropped by Prism Gallery in Makati to check out their current exhibit “The Prism Postcard Project” – a showcase of 300 postcards illustrated, handmade, or photographed by over 30 Filipino artists, all of which are for sale. I’ve never been to a postcard exhibit before, so you could just guess how excited I was to check out what they had on display, and, boy, did they not disappoint!

Walking into the gallery instantly put me on high, with all these beautiful postcards (creatively) littered on the walls that bound Prism’s humble art space. It was, indeed, a postcard paradise!

Each card on display has its own identity, reflecting the style and inspiration of its creator. From black and white illustrations of cats, to colourful images of fractals, to handmade cards, The Prism Postcard Project sure has something special in store for every postcard collector and for anyone who’s always wanted to start an art collection. The gallery's staff and curators are also lovely and accommodating, so don't hesitate to strike a conversation or even just a quick chat with them.

While I liked all the postcards at the exhibit (hell, I'd buy all of them if only I had a lot of money and they weren't so expensive!), there were three postcards that I really fell in love with - Kora Dandan-Albano's "Makinilya", Ara Villena's "Diwata", and a piece from Kara Leonardia's Watercolor x Flowers series. Of course, they're now part of my off-limits postcard collection. :)

The Prism Postcard Project will be open until mid-December, so be sure to check it out soon! Visit Prism Gallery's official Facebook page for more info.
